One could also specify a particular ratio at which point wipe-outs can still occur, to prevent people from spying by sending in insignificant attack forces.

1) Some sort of alert/threat level such as: Low, Guarded, Elevated, High, Severe. Could be shown as some sort of icon/graphic on the main page of an alliance member and is set by alliance leaders.
Useful if this alert level increased the fighting characteristics of the army as the alert level increased. But, to keep alliances from always having a severe alert level, you could implement something like decreased silver production in times of high alert as a deterrent.

Summary of VIEWS
1) Limit clan size approx 100
2) Limiting Alliances
3) Limit the number of invites per clan per day, not per person. Maybe even reduce the number of invites per day based on the number of people in the clan. Once you are over 200 members down to 2 invites per day or something.
4) Have an apply button to join a clan rather than an accept the first invitation that is sent. Making players actually have to go and apply to a clan is better than being able to send invites to them regardless of whether or not they limit the sizes.
5) Clans unrealistically spread out. Option to join in a preferred location.
6) change the points system in a way that newbie players aren't immediately drawn to seeking out the largest clans believing they will be better protected or looked after.
If points were given based on the total points divided by number of players or villages then the rankings would be a lot different i imagine.
7) So the reward for the mass inviting clans is to eat more of their own babies ( inactive players) and increase points that way by staying safe from war by having copious alliances and forming clan blocs.
It seems the limit on the number of invites individual players can send hasn't worked in limiting clan size.
8) If new Realms are going to continue to be opened then there should be some differences between the realms to change the gameplay experience otherwise why bother playing more then one realm?
Let's have a realm that is faster paced and suits the more aggressive players, then have one for the more peaceful type players with some sort of advantages for their style of play.
9) If a player quits and is "removed" from the game their village should disappear. That grey circle just grows and grows. If those villages just disappeared people could not keep taking 20 villages without actaully going to war.
